Carol and Betsy are the generous co-anchors who keep the doors open and coffee fresh for all who come to share this blessed space.

Sister Carol Kandiko, CSA

Carol Kandiko has been a Sister of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA) for more than 50 years and is one of the founders of Centering Space. She served on Core Circle since its inception in 2003, leads retreat and prayer experiences, and offers daily vigil hospitality. In 2016, she took on the role of Co-director, managing the day-to-day activities at the facility. Previously, Carol served in parish ministry and taught high school. She earned her Master’s Degree in Spirituality from Aquinas Institute of Theology.

Betsy Nero

Betsy Nero has been active at Centering Space for more than five years as a prayer leader and retreat facilitator and in 2017, was named Co-director. She has more than 30 years of experience in both ministry and education. Her credentials include Master of Arts degrees in Counseling and Human Services and in Ministry, and a Shalem Institute in Contemplative Prayer and Retreat Leadership certificate. Her greatest passion is to lead others to a place of silence, reflection and stillness with God.
